Stahl joins the Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals Foundation

11 November, 2016
In October 2016 Stahl has become a value chain affiliate of the Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals (ZDHC) Foundation. As the leading company in process chemicals for leather products, performance coatings and polymers, Stahl is constantly driving towards our goal of a more transparent and sustainable supply chain. By joining the ZDHC, we believe we are one step closer to achieving it.

The ZDHC Foundation aims to harmonize standards across the textile and footwear value chain (including leather and synthetics) to support safer chemical management. A key component of the ZDHC Programme is the manufacturing restricted substance list (MRSL), a usage ban on specific chemicals. With this affiliation to the ZDHC Foundation, Stahl officially joins them in their commitment to eliminate these substances from the value chain by 2020. The launch of our future-proof Stahl Neo portfolio in August 2016, which is completely free of the restricted substances listed on the ZDHC MRSL, is just one example of our commitment towards zero discharge.

ZDHC is currently in the process of launching the Chemical Registry, which is a portal for chemical suppliers to upload product data which will be visible to the supply chain. As a member of the ZDHC Foundation and the Leather Working Group (LWG), this will be a key project for Stahl during 2017.
