A tutorial on how our Golden Hands create pull-up leather

This way we are able to create even better solutions that contribute to a future-proof industry full of endless opportunities.

Tutorial video on pull-up leather
We strive to share our know-how throughout the industry and that is why we took on a challenge and created an in-house tutorial video with one of our Stahl experts and Golden Hands: Paul Spierings. Paul is a Senior Technical Advisor at Stahl who takes you along in his day-to-day activities. He explains how pull-up leather is made, as it’s one of his favorite leather finishes. In the video he offers an exclusive look behind the scenes of our leather application lab at Stahl headquarters in Waalwijk.

And as Paul likes to say “Pull-up leather is mainly used for the shoe and leather goods industry because it highlights aspects like growth marks and black lines from the barbed wire. And that’s why the big brands love it… and I do too!”

Behind the scenes facts
It took the film crew one entire day to capture the entire process, from the crust to finished leather. Up front Paul already prepared several sides, which made it easier to film. So we didn’t have to wait for 6 to 7 hours before the hide was entirely dry. And Paul? He explained the process for at least a few times, keeping his enthusiasm high.
