Reducing the amount of emissions that our industry produces is imperative for a sustainable and successful future. Whether you are working with leather, synthetics or polymers there is an increasing demand for solutions and products that are produced without volatile substances.
These demands are captured in new guidelines and legislations by industries and governments alike. Guidelines that improve the efficiency and sustainability of our industry and therefore woven into the fabric of everything we do at Stahl.
When we take a closer look at the automotive industry and especially automotive interior we see that every aspect of the interior matters when it comes to reducing emissions. With older car interiors the solvents, plasticizers and chemicals used in synthetics and leather caused the emission level in the interior to spike in such a way that windows would fog up, and would cause the car to emit the infamous new car scent.
A lot of people to this day still identify that smell of solvents and plasticizers to the purchase of a new car. However in recent years the demand for a neutral, odorless free interior has become increasingly important to both drivers and OEMs. Especially in the Asian market where unwanted odors in the interior are a deal breaker.
At Stahl we are always looking for ways to improve both efficiency and sustainability when it comes to our solutions. Even though we embrace the legislations and guidelines that are set by our industry, we ourselves apply an even stricter norm to our products and services. When it comes to reducing emissions we take it above and beyond because we believe that it is imperative for both our success and the success of our partners and clients. 
When looking at our solutions, we make sure that what we provide and produce is as emission free and environmentally friendly as possible. Most of our technologies are water-based solutions which meet and outperform the most stringent of demands. Everything from our surface treatments, tanning agents, coloring technologies and sealants is aimed to improve performance, reduce emissions and lessen the impact on our environment. Like bio-based PolyMatte® that is based on renewable rapeseed oil. The results are: lower emissions in an automotive interior that act as anti-fogging. Low-VOC and water-based solutions that reduce the odor and emissions in a car. The new Tergotan® range based on soft polymers, in combination with Catalix® results in an reduction of the emissions and fogging coming out of the leather. And products such as the Stahl EVO® range and many other products have been created to meet and outperform the requirements set by our industry.
In the pursuit to contribute to lowering emissions not only the emission of the interior itself is important but also the fact that our technologies called Stahlite® reduce the weight of the interior therefore contributing to the reduction in fuel consumption. We are always working with our partners to come up with new solutions that further improve the quality, lifespan and sustainability of our partners and clients products. Solutions like PU coated fabrics as a replacement for PVC.
