Leading the way towards a more sustainable future

As market leader in water-based and solvent-free polyurethanes and crosslinkers, we stimulate the use of more sustainable products in the chain. As a result, we offer an extensive range of products that doesn’t contain restricted substances like DMF, NMP and NEP, nor aromatic solvents like toluene, benzene, xylene and phthalates. And we go beyond, by providing more and more sustainable formulas that are compliant with possible future regulations. Great examples are our Stahl EVO® performance coating portfolio and our weatherstrip line-up of Stahl RelcaSil™ products.

The costs of the production, storage and transport of products containing restricted substances are increasing due to safety regulations. As a consequence, we will add an environmental surcharge to Stahl performance coating products that still contain restricted substances, such as DMF, NMP and NEP, toluene, benzene, xylene and phthalates. This environmental surcharge will become effective on 1. January 2016.

“As the additional costs of products containing restricted substances continue to rise, the gap towards the next generation clean performance products becomes smaller”, says Uwe Siebgens, Group Director Performance Coatings of Stahl. “As frontrunner in sustainability, we do hope that the environmental surcharge will accelerate the use of more sustainable and solvent-free products on a worldwide scale.”
