Stahl and UNIC showcase successful development of leather manufacturing during 3rd ReVeal Event in Italy
Stahl, market leader in surface treatment and coating solutions for flexible materials, started organizing the ReVeal event in 2016 to bring full transparency and traceability to the leather supply chain. The ongoing initiative reveals the path of all production process stages. Stahl joins forces with leading industry partners to show that partnership is pivotal in achieving a more transparent supply chain. Previous ReVeal events were organized in close collaboration with PALI Group, Vitelco, Rompa Tanneries and Rompa Leder and the Igualada Leather Cluster Barcelona.
The future of the past
Tanneries of today use the latest technology and modern industrial techniques, and yet the industry still closely follows time honored traditions and artisan methods. In Naples, the attendees were connected with history and also the adopting of technical evolutions which are an essential part of the successful development of leather production. Special attention has been dedicated to the future needs and technologies of the leather industry this year. These play a leading role in the fashion, luxury and mobility markets, as leather continues to be a premium material choice for designers and engineers alike.
Tradition and Innovation
Several renowned speakers attended the event, from the CEO of Lineapelle Fulvia Bacchito the Emeritus Professor of the University of Naples Luigi Nicolais, who elaborated on the future of tanneries. Gianni Russo, UNIC President also addressed the attendees. “We are delighted that Stahl has given us the opportunity to be a partner of this event. It has been inspirational to visit the ancient tannery uncovered in the excavations of Pompeii, whose restoration has entered the second phase - thanks to the commitment of UNIC. For UNIC it is a unique opportunity to show how we are contributing to the interests of the tanning industry in the best possible way.”
After the Pompeii visit in the morning, a discussion panel took place on the theme of Tradition & Revolution. The program then continued with a visit to the new headquarters of SSIP (Italian Leather Research Center) in Pozzuoli and concluded with the second in-depth panel: Innovation in the Leather Industry, with speakers Kathleen Kennedy (Massachusets Institute of Technology) and Federico Brugnoli (Spin 360).
With the third annual ReVeal event, Stahl, together with industry partners throughout the supply chain, have deepened the understanding of the traditions and technology that Naples continues to offer in the field of leather.
