What does the future have in store for us? A trend forecast for 2025!

Ever wondered how innovation will change the world in the next 5 to 10 years? Do you think in 5 years from now we will still use our cars, clothes and furniture the same way, or are we in for something radically different in the near future? And how will the crossover of industries affect the work we do as a chemical company, and how will it affect the design process, the production and the innovation of new products and technologies that brands and OEMs will work on in the coming years?

With the Trend Report 2025, we hope to answer some of those questions. And we hope to shed some light on some of the possibilities we may see develop soon. The Report is created by Yassine Salihine and Nicoline van Enter on behalf of Stahl.

Nicoline is a trendwatcher and Creative Director and founder of SLEM, Yassine is SLEM’s senior forecaster. SLEM is an international innovation and education center for footwear and leather. SLEM works with the world leading brands and helps them to define where innovation is taking us and them. The expertise that the innovation and education center provides has helped a lot of brands in fashion, automotive and other design industries to define their path. SLEM’s forecasts helps brands to embrace and utilize the trends and predictions and turn them into a leverage point for current business.

For Stahl Nicoline and Yassine have created a trend forecast where we predict how the next 10 years the automotive industry will evolve and blend with other industries such as fashion and home interior. Three main themes have been defined:

Exploration: The majority of people live in cities and that percentage will increase in the coming years. From medium size cities with hundreds of thousands of people to mega cities with way more than 10 million inhabitants. This has a great effect on how we will move around in our daily life, but also on where we want to go on holiday, possibly trying to break free from the pollution or hustle and bustle of urban areas.

Individualization: Our living spaces and how we choose to present ourselves will evolve to be totally adjusted to our highly personal needs and preferences. 

Sensation: Even more than today, we will develop the urge to create amazing experiences rather than just focusing on money. It is about using all our senses - both consciously and unconsciously - to add a new dimension to our lives, especially for relaxation and leisure time.
