From robotics to the Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, virtual reality, and beyond, the technologies that underpin the digital transformation are opening up new pathways for companies to bolster their capabilities and performance.

At Stahl, we are fostering a company culture that doesn’t wait for change but actively looks for it. We know that our future success depends on being able to create new experiences and new value for all our stakeholders – from driving transparency in our supply chain to improving the efficiency of our processes and better understanding our customers. Digital transformation is an essential stepping-stone to these ambitions.

However, at its core, digital transformation is not really about technology – it’s about people: how we support, empower, and develop them. Driving our digital maturity will therefore involve fostering a culture in which our people embrace change, adapt their ways of working, and challenge current systems.

Our vision for digital transformation

Continuing our digital transformation journey will allow us to drive our operational efficiency, propositional value, and market relevance. Over time, this will allow us to better develop and deliver chemical-based solutions that enable sustainable living. Specifically, we see five main areas in which digital technologies can improve our business:

  • Employee engagement
  • Organizational efficiency
  • Innovation processes
  • Customer experience and
  • Our contribution to society at large

By using digital technologies to improve across each of these areas, we can take the next important steps as an organization that – together with our partners – delivers necessary chemistry across multiple end markets and sectors.

A ten-year digital transformation strategy

Stahl is introducing a ten-year digital transformation strategy that will involve people at all levels of our organization and across all business units and locations. On this journey, transparency will be key to ensuring accountability, measuring progress, and steering decision-making.

Our journey is already improving how we do what we do, including in the following key areas:

  • Facilitating a digital workplace to drive internal alignment and communication, eliminate silos, and empower our people.
  • Establishing a product information portal, powered by blockchain technology, that will drive accountability, offer our insights, and improve our customer journey.
  • Pursuing technologies to address the chemical industry’s lack of supply chain transparency, which is vital to our customers.
  • Integrating a unified communications platform to drive efficiency and foster better internal and external collaboration.

Looking further ahead, we are actively scoping the opportunities offered by other digital technologies, including the Internet of Things, enterprise data management (EDM), and artificial intelligence. By seizing new digital opportunities, we can empower our people and optimize the efficiency and reliability of our processes and products. We also aim to become more data-driven and gain a better understanding of product formulation processes.
