Q & A: Manuel Vila, Global Technical Marketing & Support Services Manager

Manuel Vila, Global Technical Marketing & Support Services Manager of Pielcolor, is one of our colleagues that has seen big changes in his daily work. We asked him a few questions how the outbreak changed his daily worklife: 

• What is your function and what are your main responsibilities?

I am the Global Technical Marketing & Support Services Manager of Pielcolor. I am responsible of all technical teams and the technical works (Leather Collections, articles for fairs, trend books, etc.)

• How has the Covid-19 situation affected your daily work life?

A lot, because most of my time I spend travelling around the world and coordinating all technical groups. So now, all trips have been cancelled and our technical work at the labs too. Most of my time now is spent on how to re-start when the situation of Covid-19 is returning back to normal.

• How did you adapt to the current situation? 

I find it difficult, but there are many things to do. Even from home, I am getting in contact with the technical teams and, of course, with some customers to offer the best we can do in this difficult situation.

• Which positive changes have you experienced and wish you could to maintain afterwards? 

After every crisis, there are positive things evolving. Mainly in this crisis, I see a good team spirit, which is excellent to achieve good results, both professional and personal. The use of teleconferences and Facetime has been wonderful. The whole team has been connected to each other all the time. This has been a great opportunity to use some methods and technology that we never tried before and is an alternative to the conventional daily things we do.
