Waalwijk, The Netherlands, 25 September, 2020 – On September 25, 2020, dozens of Dutch organizations and embassies will participate in the SDG flag campaign to express their support for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations. No fewer than 850 SDG flags will be hoisted. Stahl, who implemented the SDG’s into its corporate strategy five years ago, also participates in the SDG Flag Campaign.

Michael Costello, ESG Director at Stahl; “Stahl and its key partners in the supply chain are aligned to the United Nations Global Compact, and to the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) established in 2015. To demonstrate our progress, the Stahl ESG annual report is submitted to the UN Global Compact each year.” He continues: “As part of the European Sustainable Development Week, we will also show concrete examples of our activities over the past years related to the 17 SDG’s. They will be showcased on our social media channels in the coming days.”

On the 25th, it will be exactly five years ago that the world embraced the Sustainable Development Goals, seventeen goals that will guide us towards a more inclusive, just and sustainable society by 2030.

Some good results have been achieved in the past five years, but we also realize that a lot still needs to be done in the next ten years. The Netherlands has a good track-record on themes such as “innovation” and “combating inequality”, but room for improvement exists for the environmental and climate related SDGs. We need to step up a gear to reach the goals by 2030!

Only together we can achieve the Global Goals. That is why we are launching the SDG Flag Campaign: “Together for the SDGs”.

On September 25, world leaders will (virtually) discuss the progress made on the SDGs during the General Assembly of the United Nations. At the same time, the SDG Action Day will take place in the Netherlands, to show that the Global Goals are widely supported here and to realize the decade of action.

The SDG Flag Campaign is an initiative of collaborating partners SDG Nederland, VNG, Global Compact Netwerk Nederland and the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
