ESG Roadmap to 2030
More than ever, the business world understands ‘success’ as value beyond financial profit. Organizations of all sizes and across all sectors see the need to participate in sustainable development to contribute positively to the world around them and live up to their social and environmental responsibilities.

The chemical industry can play a fundamental role in delivering solutions that enable sustainable development, meet new challenges through innovation, and safeguard the well-being of future generations. Chemicals, for example, are the building blocks of low-carbon, zero-pollution, energy-, and resource-efficient technologies, materials, and products.

At Stahl, we see our responsibility to participate in sustainable development as a duty to society and the environment, but also as an opportunity to do well by doing good. By embracing sustainable development, we aim to deliver value for all stakeholders, including our employees, customers, suppliers, partners, and society at large. You will find all our targets in the Stahl ESG roadmap to 2030.

Our vision on sustainable development

We believe we can make a positive impact beyond our immediate reach. By living up to our environmental and social responsibilities, and helping others do the same, we are committed to being a catalyst for sustainable development and positive change – for customers, supply chain partners, and the communities in which we operate. In this way, we can help shape a society that offers value to more people.

Through collaborative initiatives and engaging in open innovation, we can enable the development of a society in which sustainable living is easier to access.

Our sustainable development approach

At Stahl, embracing sustainable development is not an ‘add-on’ – it is embedded in all levels of our operating fabric and reflected in our initiatives, behaviors, and investments. And it begins with our efforts to minimize our direct environmental impact and carbon footprint, including by:

  • Reducing our paper consumption by 30% by 2023, and by 80% by 2030, using our consumption in 2019 as a baseline.
  • Guaranteeing rigorous product stewardship, including chemical compliance to above-industry requirements – for example, 80% of the Stahl portfolio for the footwear, garment & accessories segment will be certified by ZDHC by 2023.
  • Ensuring our operations run sustainably and all our sites comply with ISO 14001 certification by 2023.

Looking further ahead, our embrace of sustainable development practices will be marked by productive collaborations with a range of parties. This will include working with our supply chain to drive ESG performance and collaborating with industry partners across knowledge platforms and industry working groups. We also aim to maintain strong discussions with IGOs and NGOs on topics relevant to our business.

Our partnerships in sustainable development

We believe that if it can be imagined, it can be created, which is why we love to work with our partners on creative and innovative surface solutions to create fantastic products. Products that appeal more, work better, last longer and feel more comfortable – all while having less impact on our environment. We simply believe that collaboration is the key to creating a better planet for everyone. Below you can find examples of our partnerships in the sustainable development.
