Stahl

Meet Eric Peng

In the 'People of Stahl' series, we talk to colleagues from around the world about what they do, what makes them tick, and what our purpose - Touching lives, for a better world - means to them. Here, Eric Peng from our PielColor brand in China reflects on how he has grown and progressed over almost 10 years in service.

How long have you been with Stahl? What first attracted you to the company?

In 2015 I joined PielColor, a brand within the Stahl group that offers innovative leather-finishing solutions. I was attracted by the tolerance and openness of the Stahl family, and its comprehensive training system has enabled me to grow rapidly. I’m grateful to all my colleagues who have helped me, criticised me, and supported me along the way.

What is your role? Can you share an interesting fact about the work you do?

I’m responsible for the daily management of PielColor’s laboratory team in China and technical support for material compilation. At the same time, I also provide technical services to some small and medium-sized customers. Over the years, with the help and support of senior colleagues and leaders, we have gradually gained the trust of our customers.

What is your favourite thing about working at Stahl, and what are the biggest challenges?

There is always room for development. In addition to improving my application technical skills, I also need to work hard to learn and master knowledge in material performance development.

In 2019, as the manager of upholstery leather, I became fully responsible for the sofa customer business in China and continued to actively contribute to PielColor’s good sales performance. And from mid 2023, I will be serving as the Technical Manager of PielColor China, which is a new challenge for me. But as people say, pressure is a good motivator!

How does your work support Stahl’s purpose: Touching lives, for a better world?

Our leather finishes are not only high-quality, but safe and responsible. We contribute directly to a better world by ensuring we meet international safety and environmental requirements, such as Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals (ZDHC).

If you were CEO of Stahl for the day, what would you do?

I would like to set goals that enable us to keep striving forward and climbing to new heights with courage. But we can’t do this alone: I believe that with the collaboration of our leaders and teams, we will continue to achieve better results.

Thanks for sharing your story, Eric! We are proud of our people who make a difference every day and strive for excellence together. Stay tuned for more 'People of Stahl' features!
