Meet Regi Varghese

In our latest feature of ‘People of Stahl’ we sit down with Regi Varghese, a dedicated leader who exemplifies our values through his openness, integrity, and unwavering commitment to excellence. 

1. How long have you been with Stahl? What first attracted you to the company?  

I joined Stahl in 2013, bringing with me diverse experience from several leading coating companies in India, including the largest in the country and another that was, at the time, the biggest globally. Over the years, I gained multi-functional expertise across manufacturing, R&D, technical services, and business development, primarily focused on polymers and coatings for walls, wood, and metal substrates. The flexible coatings sector was relatively new to me, which is exactly what drew me to Stahl, a global leader in coatings for flexible substrates. This opportunity allowed me to deepen my expertise and make meaningful contributions to the advancement of the flexible coatings industry. 

2. What is your role? Can you share an interesting fact about the work you do?  

I work as the Business Director for the Performance Coatings division in India. When I took on this role, the business was relatively small, but over the years, we've been fortunate to expand into new segments and build a highly capable team. Each member of our team brings exceptional talent and has developed the technical expertise needed to drive growth across the various segments of the Performance Coatings business. 

3. What do you like most about working at Stahl, and what are the biggest challenges?  

What I value most about working at Stahl is the strong sense of teamwork within the company. Both management and employees are open, honest, and committed to the highest standards of ethics and compliance. The support we receive from both global and local teams is outstanding, especially during challenging times.

4. How does your work support Stahl’s purpose: Touching lives, for a better world? 

I believe in treating both clients and colleagues with respect, it’s a core value that aligns perfectly with our purpose: Touching lives, for a better world. 

At Stahl, we’re one big team. Maintaining mutual respect and a strong sense of collaboration is key to achieving our shared goals and creating a positive, motivating work environment. 

5. How do you spend your free time outside of work?  

Cooking has been one of my favorite hobbies for many years. It gives me the chance to experiment with new recipes and ingredients, something that often connects back to my background in R&D. Outside of cooking, I really enjoy spending time with my family. My wife is currently working in Chennai, while my son recently completed his master's in mechanical engineering in Canada and has started a full-time job. Our younger daughter lives with us and is currently completing her degree in Economics.
