Sustainability is core to Stahl’s strategy, reflected in our purpose of ‘Touching lives, for a better world’. Stahl is committed to be the ESG leader, setting the standard in sustainable coatings for flexible materials. We do this by driving innovation with customers, operational excellence and through collaboration across our organisation, partners and supply chain.
To monitor our own ESG performance we are committed to the sustainability rating programmes listed below. And our 2030 roadmap targets are aligned with the UN sustainable development goals.
In 2025, Stahl has been awarded the platinum rating by EcoVadis, keeping it in the top 1% of companies evaluated, for the fourth consecutive year.

We created our ESG Roadmap to 2030, an overview of our main sustainability targets, because we believe that by going beyond minimum disclosure requirements and regulatory compliance, we can not only improve our environmental footprint but also deliver greater value to our stakeholders.
We’ve already exceeded our interim goals for 2023 and set new ambitious targets for 2026.
In 2024, Stahl joined CEFLEX to make all flexible packaging fully circular and in line with PPWR. This partnership reinforces Stahl’s commitment to offer low-environmental impact products and innovation across the packaging coatings value chain.
By developing solutions that have a lower impact on the environment, we can help our customers and partners reduce their carbon footprint as well as their water and energy consumption.
Water-based coatings have replaced solvent-based systems, for lower greenhouse gas emissions and exposure to VOCs. UV/energy cure coatings are energy efficient in application. Stahl has expanded its life cycle assessment capabilities and scope to facilitate product carbon footprint reductions. Considering the end of life of our products, we follow the design for recycling guidance by 4evergreen alliance for fibre-based packaging and by CEFLEX for film-based flexible packaging. The Seno ranges and Hi-Tech products are compliant with the EuPIA Exclusion Policy. For MinusNine and Nicoat we offer many products without intentionally added substances* from the California Proposition 65 list.
