RelcaDur® Water-based bonding system: the future of vehicle manufacturing
Stahl’s RelcaDur® is a non-toxic, water-based bonding system used to securely bind rubber to other materials, such as glass, aluminium, steel, and plastics, including PA 6 and PA 6.6. Free from carcinogenic, mutagenic and reprotoxic (CMR) chemicals, RelcaDur® combines excellent adhesion, durability and ease of use with increased safety and sustainability.
Solvent-free
Rubber-to-substrate bonding agents are regularly used in vehicle manufacture, especially in the process of creating noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) components. These usually combine rubber with other materials to dampen noise and minimise vibration during driving.
As Stahl’s first water-based rubber-to-substrate bonding agent, RelcaDur® provides a more sustainable and durable alternative to traditional solvent-based rubber-to-substrate bonding agents, which often contain toxic chemical
Key benefits of RelcaDur®
Excellent adhesion and durability
Water-based product free of hazardous solvents
Low to very low volatile organic compound (VOC) content
Free of carcinogenic, mutagenic and reprotoxic (CMR) chemicals
35°C pre-heating temperature for materials
Fast-drying formula
Easy-to-use, ready-made product

A two-part, user-friendly system
RelcaDur® works using a two-layer system, comprised of a primer (RelcaDur® 300) and a bonding agent (RelcaDur® 600). Each layer can be applied by spraying, roll coating, dipping or brushing.
The primer and bonding agent are sequentially applied to the substrate material. The chemical and physical bond between the primer and the bonding agent then forms during the vulcanisation step.
Both water-based and low-VOC products, RelcaDur® 300 and RelcaDur® 600 come ready to use and are easy to apply to a range of vehicle parts. They last for the lifetime of the car just as well as conventional solvent-based solutions.

Ideal for manufacturing vehicles and beyond
RelcaDur® can be used for the manufacture of multiple NVH parts across all types of vehicles, ranging from small cars to heavy industrial machinery. These parts include:
Subframe mounts
Chassis mounts
Engine mounts
Buffers
Dampers
Bushings
Other applications may include use in reinforced hoses, or bridges
