Stahl

Meet Tracy Lou

In the 'People of Stahl' series, we talk to colleagues from around the world about what they do, what makes them tick, and what our purpose – Touching lives, for a better world – means to them. Here, we sit down with Tracy Lou, who works in our Production area in China. Tracy is driven by our strong values and learning about the world around us.

How long have you been with Stahl? What first attracted you to the company?

I joined Stahl in 2005, so it's been almost 20 years now! At first, I was attracted by the company's background and history. Starting from a simple leather product and growing into more sectors and markets through excellence and innovation – it's inspiring.

What is your role? Can you share an interesting fact about the work you do?

I work within the material and production planning area. I find it interesting to see how what I do fits into a bigger operation, which contributes to our company's overall success. No matter what your role, we all have a shared goal: innovative and high-quality solutions that are environmentally and socially responsible.

What do you like most about working at Stahl, and what are the biggest challenges?

There's a lot of variety in my tasks: no two days are the same. So, I try to find a balance between delivering one-off tasks and ongoing inventory control. This balancing act is both interesting and challenging for me.

How does your work support Stahl’s purpose: Touching lives, for a better world?

In production, we are working hard to minimise our direct environmental impact and carbon footprint. There are many ways we can do this, such as by reducing waste, using renewable energy, and maintaining ZDHC certification for the products in our portfolio. In 2024, we achieved ZDHC Level 3 (the highest level) for more than 2,000 products in our portfolio.

The goal is to develop safe, low-impact materials that reduce both our carbon footprint and that of our customers. These benefits then ultimately reach the end consumer. With thousands of potential products made possible by our materials, we can touch lives in so many ways.

If you were CEO of Stahl for the day, what would you do?

The Stahl team is made up of people who live our values: imagination, responsibility, initiative and cooperation. By putting these values into practice, we can cater to the needs of our customers and wider society every day. As CEO, I would prioritise this focus on people, to ensure our colleagues are happy and healthy.

How do you spend your free time outside of work?

I especially love to travel. By touching different parts of the world, we can learn about the way people live, and therefore be better equipped to touch our customers' lives in pursuit of a better world.

Thanks for sharing your story, Tracy! We are proud of our people who make a difference every day and strive for excellence together. Stay tuned for more 'People of Stahl' features!
