Conventionally, brand owners seeking an eye-catching metallic shelf presence have used hot foil stamping or cold foil applications. However, these processes require extra manufacturing steps, specialist tooling and a plastic carrier film that goes to landfill.
In contrast, Senoprint® metallic coatings are applied in-line as part of the existing print run, integrating with flexo, gravure, offset, narrow web and screen printing without needing investment in a dedicated line. And because the coating goes precisely where the shine is wanted, less waste is produced.

Packaging finished with Senoprint® is fully de-inkable and recyclable through standard paper recycling, supporting brand owners as they work towards the EU's Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), as well as broader circularity goals. Our coatings formulations are developed with REACH, German Ink Ordinance (GIO) and U.S. Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) compliance in mind, and indirect food-contact suitability is assessed on an application- and product-specific basis.
Backed by Stahl's EcoVadis Platinum rating, now held for five consecutive years, our UV-cured and water-based formulations help customers reduce VOC emissions without compromising on performance.
How does Senoprint® deliver premium, eye-catching finishes that last?
Our Senoprint® portfolio currently offers several high-brilliance mirror-like silver and gold finishes, and through overprinting, a broad metallic colour palette can be achieved for a variety of final effects.
Every metallic coating application is paired with a protective topcoat, developed in-house and engineered to minimise the loss of brilliance that can often come with topcoat use, so the striking visual effect and the protection are formulated as a single system. Together, the topcoat and metallic coating provide robust resistance to abrasion, handling and environmental factors, helping brand owners reduce damage risk and keep packaging looking brilliant throughout its lifecycle.
